Village Shop News

The Eardisland Village Shop is to re-open on limited hours from Monday 13th July. Newspapers will continue to be available for collection from 8.30am and the shop will be open between 9.00-11.00am daily. We will continue to offer a delivery service with orders taken during the opening hours of 9.00-11.00am and deliveries made after closure from 11.00am. However, we would request that from 13th July only the vulnerable who are shielding continue to use the delivery service as our capacity to continue offering the delivery service is reducing. We have a duty of care to keep all our volunteers as safe as possible, so from 13th July customers can come to the inner door of the shop and we will offer a counter service from there. There will be masks, gloves, sanitiser and a screen in the shop to keep our volunteers safe and socially distanced. We would ask customers to follow the current social distancing guidelines when queuing outside where there will be hand sanitiser provided. Also from re-opening we are planning to introduce a very simple to use card reader that will enable all forms of digital payment and reduce the amount of cash handling for our customers and volunteers alike. We hope to get the shop back to normal over the next few months as our volunteers begin to feel safe enough to work in a public environment again. The last three months have been very challenging for everyone and we would like to publicly thank all our volunteers who have kept the shop going through these strange times, with particular thanks to those who have put in extraordinary long hours to go above and beyond keeping this community supplied with the essentials of lockdown life.
