We're really pleased to announce that the Parish Council, after some hard work by Andy Dunn our tree warden, has been awarded a grant from The Tree Council to plant:
3 x Wild Cherry next to the play area
2 x Victoria Plum and 1 x Silver Birch just south of the play area
A 'Jam' hedge round the community garden (Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Juneberry, Hazel, Cherry Plum, Crab Apple, Blackberry, Oleaster, Elderflower, Dog Rose and Wild Pear).
An edible hedge on the east boundary of the riverside land opposite Staick House (Cherry Plum, Hazel, Crab Apple, Blackberry, Wild Pear, Damson)
An edible hedge in two sections between Broome Lane and the old ford (Cherry Plum, Hazel, Crab Apple, Blackberry, Wild Pear, Damson)
It's hoped the trees on The Recreation Ground will provide much needed shade in the summer, and that the trees and hedges will be enjoyed for their fruit by parishioners and wildlife.
We'll be planting these on Sunday 26th February from 10am and would welcome anybody who would like to come and help.
